Are brett favre’s career stats attributed to his skill or his longevity?

Think about it, even if a QB is mediocre, if he plays long enough he will hold all the career passing records.
Now, I know that Favre is not a mediocre QB, hes pretty damn good, but are the records that he owns because of his skill, or the fact that he has played so many games in a row?
His career INT record could have been because he was accident prone, or made mistakes rarely but since he played so long, they added up.
or is it a combination of both?
He was great, but the best way to tell is by lookin at his stats year by year. Marino still holds the Yards in a season, Favre just has good seasons year in and year out. It was about 60% Longevity 40% Skill

You have to contribute that to both. There is a quarterback who had the skills and football sense second to noone. He could be thought of as the greatest quarterback of all time.

Look at Marino, he played for like 15years, Favre played for 17 but Favre started out a bad egg the first two years with the Falcons.
Besides without Longevity no Quaterback will be as good. You have to be around a long time to because good, look at Jerry Rice. He should have quit with the 49′ers but then he went to the Raiders, then the Seahawks for 4 more years.
If Favre wasn’t drafted by the Falcons he could have 69000 yards in those 17 years. players have to have longevity and skill in order to be good players.

No, it was longevity, hands down. The Streak really did help him out with padding those stats. He was a good QB, but he wasn’t the best. I’d still take Marino over Favre, even though Favre has the records.
