I eat them raw myself as well, but a comment of my Chinese friend has made me wonder. The same apply to Napa cabbage, she would NEVER eat it raw, as my friend has told me. I do not question the fact that heating kills plenty of nutrients, vitamins, enzymes and stuff but sometimes I just think that there might be a reason why they do so for thousands of years with success. Just a thought.

Exactly, I was wondering myself. That is what my Chinese friend has told me. The berries are left to drop off the tree (bush) and dry on the ground and then they are picked off the ground. She also mentioned that Chinese people consider Goji as a medicinal plant and therefore is consumed as such according to their JING/JANG system in moderation and always cooked!!! Like in soups or stews.
